PCs: Draeca and Tancred. Friends: Tug and Broody. Foes: Ritius and Sorvald. The PCsDraeca and Tancred met at the New Year's Court twenty years ago, Draeca in the large entourage of Duchess Fina and Tancred in the temproary employ of a minor Earl (Tancred rarely stays employed for long to any one person thanks to his temper.) Draeca was about to embark on her first quest after the Draco-lich Ashfall and though she found Tancred abrasive, she felt his wings and his sword might be of use, which they were. Tancred has joined all of Draeca's subsequent expedition and although the two do not socialize, they remain in touch and rady to join each other's outings should they prove interesting.
DraecaDraeca was born Dragonhead 12, 2340 to the Celestial Icea as the result of a rape by a demon. Icea abhorred her offspring and abandoned her daughter at the court of Duchess Fina. As something of an oddity herself, the Duchess provided a good home for the strange child who had celestial and demonic features and as time went on showed traces of dragon's blood as well. Thanks to both her abandonment and being raised at the Dragon court (which is looked on with a mixture of fear and wonder by the rest of Eidos), Draeca has always felt like an outsider. By hear she learned much about dragons, their ways, their language, how to ride them and even spells perculiar to them (the clerical Dragon Domain). She reveres Fina as the mother she never had and is fiercely loyal to Fina. She is less loyal to Eidos, despite the fact that her parton goddess to which she is deeply devoted, is also patron of Eidos. Though Eidos has a very mixed population, her mixed blood is not well received here and the time Draeca spends in Eidos is generally spent in select places where she feels accepted, such as Fina's court. Dracea played no part in the recent war with Mottul, instead choosing to mount her 4th expdition in search of Ashfall, the legendary Draco-lich. Her sources point to a lair in the Misty Isles (the name for the lower floating islands that are always deep in the clouds of Ophir and perpetually foggy) and here she spent the war with Tancred until he left the expedition near the tail end of the war for some glory on the battle field (which he failed to find). After Tancred left the Draco-lich expedition, Dracea met up with a young woman named Aura who joined her quest. As all previous expeditions, this one found little trace of Ashfall but they did go through a few adventures. Aura was impressed by Draeca's good heart and stout courage. When Draeca saved Aura's life by refusing to abandon her to a horde of undead, she revealed herself to Draeca as a gold dragon and vowed to travel Draeca. She has proven to be a devoted companion to Draeca. During one of Draeca's forrays in the Misty Isles in search of Ashfall, she came across the remains of Arngrim, a legendary dragon hunter. After performing her clerical duties and setting his spirit to rest, Draeca claimed his dragon armor, the legendary Thrythwig. This intelligent suit of plate mail protected several dragon riders of renown in the Age of Archons. Draeca is the first to don her in the Age of Heroes. Thrythwig provides stout defense in a magnificent form but she expects a great deal from those she allows to wear her, namely fame and renown. TancredTancred has a reputation for being a tough fighter with a harsh temper. His sword finds him frequent employ and his temper causes frequent termination. Early on he started down the path of the paladin but proved a little too carefare with orders. Though he retains his initial paladin training (Ophir allows NG paladins) he has speciliazed since his early days as a plain warrior. Somewhere along the way, his fearsome temper has given him a few of the benefits of a barbarian as well (this is the class he received for his "free class" bonus card.) Draeca is one of the few people he has retained as a friend over the years and as such has adopted her friends and foes. He is very fond of Tug whom he finds refreshingly direct, especially in battle. Broody he finds, well, brooding, but the archer's arrows have saved his life more than once so he tolerates him as well. As a man of many hates, he is happy to add Ritius and Sorvald to his lst of foes. TugThe fearsome looking Tug shares a sense of the outcast with Draeca. She found him on her second trip to the Misty Isles and helped him leave a situation of near slavery. He settled first at Fina's court and then in the service of Duke Gurdy of Larissa where he earned modest distinction in the recent war and a position as capatin of the guard at one of the duke's castles in Larissa (it's more of an honorary roll in this case since Tug is a good fighter but not a good leader.) Despite his green dragon and ogre heritage, Tug is Lawful Good. BroodyBroody is a renowned archer who served as his own man in the Mottul wars. He met Draeca in the entourage of Fina. She has rebuffed his romantic advances to date although the two remain good friends. He travels throughout Eidos and knows many of the nobles. RitiusRitius (pronounced Right'-tee-us) is a stern member of the Knights of the Chalice, sworn demon hunters. Though Draeca saved his life 40 years ago and he would never kill her due to this life-debt, the two are staunch foes. His interpretation of his order leaves no place for demons, part or whole, in Eidos and he seeks to have her legally banished. Their emnity was brought to a head 20 years ago when Draeca successfullly defended the succubus Lilly in a court from a prosecution by Ritius. This defeat made Draeca a bitter foe of Ritius. When Ritius slew Lilly three years later on a raid of dubious merit (in Draeca's eyes), the emnity was returned. Neither is likely to outright ill each other but they oppose each other in all other ways possible, at court, in the law courts, competition, etc. SorvaldSorvald is another who seeks the Draco-lich Ashfall which makes him a natural foe of Draeca's. As a rather ruthless spellsword of great power, he has already betrayed Draeca several times. In the early days before he was quite so powerful and she as aware of his nature, they travelled together in search of Ashfall until he stole her notes and left her and Tancred abandonded on a small rock for three years, kept alive only by her clerical create food and water. In later years, the three have had a few running battles and experienced further treachery at Sorvald's hands in the form of slander in the Misty Isles that have caused them much grief. On their last trip to the Misty Isles, Sorvald nearly succeeded in killing the both of them. Sorvald is an outright foe. He would gladly kill either Draeca or Tancred although if he would prefer to do so beyond Eidos due to the possibility of trouble with Fina. Sorvald is a minor noble with estates near the capital of Lyko. |
